What is a Project?
RIVANES has worked with a wide variety of partners to create several ocean-related projects. Through the promotion of these projects, we have defined the following three key elements for solving marine issues.
- To scientifically evaluate, accumulate, and analyze data on seafloor topography and sediment, benthic organisms, seaweed and seagrass habitat, environmental data such as temperature, nutrients, and currents, and ecological data on floating and swimming organisms.
- To not only bring together researchers, companies, etc. that have been working on the ocean, but also to encourage entry from other fields and industries and to utilize a wide range of knowledge for the benefit of the ocean.
- To promote specific projects that contribute to solving emerging marine issues, while accumulating and integrating the knowledge gained from these projects in a cross-sectional manner
The "LIBERNESS OCEAN PROJECT" will bring together various activities, projects, and technologies that contribute to solving ocean issues, and together with partners, create a group of new projects that will contribute to these three elements. In addition, we will promote mutual exchange among these projects, share know-how and knowledge to the extent possible, and unify the negotiation window with the demonstration areas.
We welcome participation from partner companies, foundations, and others interested in ocean-related projects or new business creation.

Building social systems
As long as we continue to live on the earth, we draw a great deal from the ocean, a place with which we cannot remain indifferent, mainly in the form of marine resources. On the other hand, the return flow from land to sea is distorted by the damming of the flow of nutrients from land to sea in the form of seawalls and septic tanks, and by the discharge of garbage, especially plastic.
In order to change this current situation and create a state where the cycles between the ocean and land are in harmony, we need to learn more about the ocean and gather science and technology to solve each problem one by one. We will gather various kinds of knowledge, develop new technologies, and think about and create sustainable ways to interact with the ocean. That is the purpose of this project.
